Holy Weekend, Batman!

Well, we have been quite busy! Once a month, I lead worship at our church and this was my weekend! Between preparing for that, helping my grandma clean out her garage (in which DH & I have stored a TON of crap), and then celebrating her birthday as well, we did find time to take our daughter to a local Halloween Festival. She won 1st place in her age group!

Isn't she cute?!

I had really wanted to make this M&M Cookie Pie for my grandma's birthday but time just did not allow it. Since I already had all of the ingredients, I decided I needed to just make it tonight! Funny I said needed as our preacher spoke on wants and

Remember, I'm just a beginner in the kitchen and I didn't have a pie pan, so I used one of those non-stick 8x8 cake pans. Another simple recipe, it only has seven ingredients, mixed together in pairs.

M&M Cookie Cake

Just over 1 cup of All Purpose Flour
1/4 tsp baking soda
3/4 cup butter softened
(I had less than 1/2 cup of stick butter so I used the Blue Bonnet I had)
1/2 cup brown sugar
1 egg
1 tsp vanilla extract
1 Cup M&Ms

Here are the directions given on Adventures in My Kitchen's blog:
Cream butter and sugar. Add in egg and extract and blend. The combine flour and baking soda- mix until completely incorporated. Fold in the M&M's.

Mommy's Little Helper!

Dump into a greased 9.5" pie pan and bake for 25-30 mins. You know the drill, when a toothpick/ridiculously small pairing knife comes out clean it's donzo.
Cool, cut into cookie pie slices and enjoy!

Again, I didn't have a pie pan so I just used the cake pan I had.

Look at all that yummmmmy goodness!

I'm new to this whole blogging thing and I'm not exceptionally creative when it comes to the kitchen so I'll probably just blog about my Pinterest attempts!

Hope you had a great weekend!

Apple Cream Puff

Here's my attempt at a new treat...
Breakfast? Dessert?
And let's be real, someone has probably done something very similar, if not exact!

Apple Cream Puffs
1 - 8ct Tube of Cresent Rolls
Approximately 1oz Cream Cheese
1 Apple
Cinnamon

Secret weapon for this recipe (sorry for the bad lighting):

This will give you 10 slices when you only need 8...the other two are a bonus!

It's simple, really...just take the cresent rolls and slap some cream cheese on them.

Next, you'll sprinkle on cinnamon...as much or as little as you'd like. Now, after I was done with the whole thing, I realized that I had some Caramel Cinnamon Sprinkles from Tastefully Simple that I would have used and they would have tasted even better!

Wrap the cream cheese, cinnamon cresent roll around each apple.

Follow the oven temp & time on the cresent rolls and keep an eye on it.

These would be really good with a cream cheese icing
or a cinnamon syrup to dip in
similar to an apple dumpling!

So that's it, see, simple! I hope you enjoy it!

Hello...Anybody There?!

Oh, hi there! Thanks for checking out my blog. This is my newest adventure as a Stay at Home Mom and housewife! After some things happened at my job at an insurance agency, I was blessed with the opportunity to stay at home with our daughter. She'll be three in February but after this last week, I'd think she's pushing 16! Little miss attitude, I swear! Anyway, leaving work in June gave me plenty of time to prepare for our September wedding...or so I thought. Boy does time fly when you're having a very DIY wedding. Which brings me to why I named my blog, "Made with Love, Burlap & Lace"...I had an outdoor, barnwood, mason jar, burlap & lace wedding that I did nearly all myself. Okay, okay...I had help from some very talented and generous friends and family. As you might have guessed, my wedding was very "Pinterest-inspired" and it really got me hooked on all this DIY stuff!

So I am addicted to Pinterest. If you're anything like me, you can relate! It has certainly been a lifesaver for my family...after all, my dearest husband and daughter would probably starve if it weren't for the lovely recipes I'm always finding! I don't know what we did before Pinterest...I guess use cookbooks but those aren't as helpful. I need pictures!! :) And I'm super excited to enter my first craft show in November using some of the great ideas I've found while perusing Pinterest.

Monday night I made a great version of Chicken & Dumplings in the crock pot and followed it up with a little craft, wine, tv session. I'm currently working on something similar to this muffin pan snowman and about to attempt a burlap & lace wreath with pictures soon!

During a playdate yesterday with a friend and her twins, I realized I forgot to thaw out any meat for dinner and I only had ground turkey. Which made me decide to look up my options when they left. I found a couple good ideas for frozen chicken breast and decided I would make tator-tot casserole as a side. Now, this would be a good point in time to explain how UN-Betty Crocker I am. I didn't even know tator-tot casserole had meat in it! I just figured it was a cheesy potato type dish. As I said, I'm not really the typical SAHM or housewife. I don't particularly like to clean, I do what has to be done when needed and laundry is my arch-nemisis. My house is definitely not spotless and I don't wear a pretty white apron. I'm probably just your average, middle-class mom. Back to dinner, I decided to skip the chicken and make Tator-Tot Casserole instead but I made a few changes. I used ground turkey and because I didn't have Cream of Chicken or Celary I substituted Cream of Mushroom. For dessert I made No-Bake Cookies! For some reason, the ones I dropped at the beginning turned out much stickier and fell apart, where as the ones toward the end of the batch set up quite nicely. They're delicious either way!

Boy, that was a lengthy first post but I wanted to bring eveyone up to speed on my weekly Pinterest accomplishments. My next post will give some more insight into my life and my yummy creation I made this morning! Thanks for reading and I look forward to sharing my daily happenings. I'm sure you're all dying to know more ;)
