Hello...Anybody There?!

Oh, hi there! Thanks for checking out my blog. This is my newest adventure as a Stay at Home Mom and housewife! After some things happened at my job at an insurance agency, I was blessed with the opportunity to stay at home with our daughter. She'll be three in February but after this last week, I'd think she's pushing 16! Little miss attitude, I swear! Anyway, leaving work in June gave me plenty of time to prepare for our September wedding...or so I thought. Boy does time fly when you're having a very DIY wedding. Which brings me to why I named my blog, "Made with Love, Burlap & Lace"...I had an outdoor, barnwood, mason jar, burlap & lace wedding that I did nearly all myself. Okay, okay...I had help from some very talented and generous friends and family. As you might have guessed, my wedding was very "Pinterest-inspired" and it really got me hooked on all this DIY stuff!

So I am addicted to Pinterest. If you're anything like me, you can relate! It has certainly been a lifesaver for my family...after all, my dearest husband and daughter would probably starve if it weren't for the lovely recipes I'm always finding! I don't know what we did before Pinterest...I guess use cookbooks but those aren't as helpful. I need pictures!! :) And I'm super excited to enter my first craft show in November using some of the great ideas I've found while perusing Pinterest.

Monday night I made a great version of Chicken & Dumplings in the crock pot and followed it up with a little craft, wine, tv session. I'm currently working on something similar to this muffin pan snowman and about to attempt a burlap & lace wreath with pictures soon!

During a playdate yesterday with a friend and her twins, I realized I forgot to thaw out any meat for dinner and I only had ground turkey. Which made me decide to look up my options when they left. I found a couple good ideas for frozen chicken breast and decided I would make tator-tot casserole as a side. Now, this would be a good point in time to explain how UN-Betty Crocker I am. I didn't even know tator-tot casserole had meat in it! I just figured it was a cheesy potato type dish. As I said, I'm not really the typical SAHM or housewife. I don't particularly like to clean, I do what has to be done when needed and laundry is my arch-nemisis. My house is definitely not spotless and I don't wear a pretty white apron. I'm probably just your average, middle-class mom. Back to dinner, I decided to skip the chicken and make Tator-Tot Casserole instead but I made a few changes. I used ground turkey and because I didn't have Cream of Chicken or Celary I substituted Cream of Mushroom. For dessert I made No-Bake Cookies! For some reason, the ones I dropped at the beginning turned out much stickier and fell apart, where as the ones toward the end of the batch set up quite nicely. They're delicious either way!

Boy, that was a lengthy first post but I wanted to bring eveyone up to speed on my weekly Pinterest accomplishments. My next post will give some more insight into my life and my yummy creation I made this morning! Thanks for reading and I look forward to sharing my daily happenings. I'm sure you're all dying to know more ;)
